Let’s Think About Indonesia First, Then Palestine - The Jakarta Globe

The first priority of Indonesia’s foreign policy under a Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla government — if they win Wednesday’s presidential election — would be to open an Indonesian embassy in Ramallah.
But perhaps we should be realistic about putting our own house in order before attempting to interfere with others’. To attract Muslim voters ahead of the election, Palestine is an issue made for grandstanding. But a failure to deliver campaign promises and realize good intentions could backfire on the candidates struggling to become Indonesia’s next leaders.
We need to avoid ostentatious shows of emotional support for Palestine...
